Illustration fascinates me because it encourages research, brainstorming, and the occasional elbow grease to render a diamond out of silly putty. At its best, Illustration is truthful visual communication between viewers of all ages. I am the quiet observer who hits you with a slap of humor and sincerity
I draw with a paintbrush, ink, and anything that will produce color. Let's just say, I don’t discriminate between the art, hardware, and office supply stores. I am motivated by experience, and look at everything wondering how it could influence an illustration. In a world full of instant gratification, I just want people who see my artwork to slow down for just a second and hopefully smile.
Bio:
Angela Dominguez was born in Mexico City, and raised in Texas. As a child, she loved reading books and making a mess as she was creating pictures. As an adult, she still enjoys doing both (although she tries to be less messy now).In December of 2007, she graduated from the Academy of Art in San Francisco with her MFA in illustration. Since graduating she has worked with a variety of publishing companies including Feiwel and Friends, Children’s Book Press, Abrams Books, and Holiday House. When she is not drawing she can be found enjoying the outdoors and drinking a robust cup of coffee (sometimes at the same time). More than anything, she hopes that her illustrations make people of all ages smile and occasionally chuckle.
